What to Expect

Philosophy

Lesson Format

  • Warm up
  • Evaluation of practice and skills from last week’s lesson
  • Introduction of new skills
  • Question / Answer time

Lesson Materials

  • 1/2 inch three ring binder
  • Pencil
  • All lesson books
  • Bag to carry materials

Practice

  • Practice time should include warm-ups and every assigned song
  • Theory work should be done outside of practice time
  • Prep-Course Students – 10-15 minutes, 5 days a week
  • Level 1A and 1B students – 20 minutes, 5 days a week
  • Level 2-6 Students – 30 minutes, 5 days a week
  • Advanced students – 45 to 60 minutes, 5 days a week

Curriculum

  • Alfred’s Basic Piano Series, ranging from beginning to adult
  • Hannon and Czerny technique books for advanced students
  • Anthologies for periodic music
  • “Fun Books” for supplemental music

Tuition

  • Tuition is billed on a monthly basis
  • $70 per month for four 30 minute lessons
  • Months with five weeks allow for make-up lessons
  • A bill will be attached to the student’s notebook the last lesson of the month

Attendance

  • If you are going to miss a lesson, please call or email and let me know as soon as possible
  • You may switch lesson times with another student for special circumstances, but
    arrangements need to be made between you and the other student
  • Please have student arrive and be picked up on time
